Art Gallery of Ballarat - Teachers as artful writers

Art Gallery of Ballarat - Teachers as artful writers
Description

This unique and engaging full-day professional learning experience at the Art Gallery of Ballarat aims to build understanding about effective writing for those teaching secondary school English. It is based on the premise that English teachers who have wrestled with writing themselves are better equipped to teach writing and converse with students in writing conferences.

This full-day program presented by Dr Amanda McGraw, Program Leader of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) Federation University, will focus on the creative use of language inspired by artworks in the Gallery. Participants will learn creative approaches to support students to engage more strategically in the process of writing and will build their awareness of how effective writers operate so that they are better equipped to teach good writing skills.

This program is presented by the Art Gallery of Ballarat in collaboration with the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE).
